Sun Sign Astrology: Leo

Leo is the fifth sign of the Zodiac, with the Sun visiting July 23rd and leaving August 22nd. Leo is a fire sign, alongside Aries and Sagittarius. As a result of its fire influence, Leo’s have a passionate and fiery personality. They are expansive, and like how a single flame can quickly grow into a roaring fire, a Leo can go from 0 to 100 in a matter of minutes. Leo is ruled by the planet of the Sun, and is the most powerful planetary influence, exuding energy and enthusiasm.

Leo’s are extravagant rulers of their kingdom, they want everyone to know who they are when they enter the room, and demand respect and loyalty. There energetic, flamboyant personality draws people to them like a magnet, and people often look to them for a good time – they are excellent entertainers and hosts. If they aren’t the centre of attention, they are not happy.  They are also very generous, partially to show off to others and gain their loyalty, but also because they are genuinely friendly people. They radiate optimism, and live a life bursting with energy. Leo’s make wonderful friends, as long as they get admiration and respect in return – there is never enough flattery and adoration in a Leo’s mind. They are also excellent business people, due to their authoritative, demanding nature that allows them to climb to the top of the ladder much quicker than others. If they know what they want, they are going to get it.

The extravagant nature of the Leo means that they often look down their nose at others, no one is better than them, and nothing is too luxurious or off limits to a Leo. When they do feel threatened by another person, they find it difficult to disguise their jealousy and will quickly find a way to outdo their opponent.  In times of financial difficulty, a Leo, worried about damaging their reputation, will take out another credit card and go on a shopping spree. They allow nothing to publicly bruise their ego. Leo’s are also known for for being headstrong and fixed in opinion, it takes a lot of persuading and convincing to get a Leo to change their mind, or admit that they are wrong. After all, they are the King of the Jungle, so surely what they think is always right?

Famous Leo’s include: Bill Clinton, Ben Affleck, Napoleon Bonaparte, Madame du Barry, Amelia Earhart, Madonna, and Barack Obama.
