Sun Sign Astrology: Virgo

Sun Sign Astrology: Virgo

Virgo is the sixth sign of the Zodiac, with the sun visiting August 23rd and leaving September 22nd. Virgo is an Earth sign, alongside Capricorn and Taurus. As a result of its Earth influence, Virgo’s have a grounded and practical personality. They also tend to be very reserved and modest. Virgo is ruled by the planet Mercury, the ancient God of communication.

Virgo’s are very analytical, and they constantly strive to solve and improve problems, but sometimes to a fault. A constant desire to problem solve can leave a Virgo feeling exhausted and under pressure – they will rarely put a task aside for another day. Of course this is also a positive trait, as their ability to not procrastinate and put off important tasks allows them to advance more quickly in their careers. Intelligence goes hand in hand with a Virgo’s analytical ability, and they will always make a decision that is both logical and well thought out – they never leap in to making a decision without having all the facts before them first, and there is an inner fear of failing. In terms of forming friendships and relationships, Virgo’s are shy and introverted, they may feel anxious in social settings, and find it hard to make conversation with strangers, however in a relationship, a Virgo is incredibly loyal and caring.

To others, a Virgo can sometimes appear cold and closed off, due to their shy nature. This may make others misjudge them, making it hard for them to form friendships and relationships with new people. They can also tend to be closed-minded to anything other than facts and statistics, and therefore are usually not very spiritual beings. A Virgo does not like to make decisions based on emotions, you may have heard the phrase thinking with your head and not your heart, and that is the perfect descriptor for a Virgo. However, it would do a Virgo good to look outside of the box, and explore new ideas further than their beliefs once in a while, as they sometimes limit their breadth of vision otherwise.

Famous Virgo’s include: Lance Armstrong, Agatha Christie, Confucius, Mother Teresa, Queen Elizabeth I, Michael Jackson, Charlie Sheen and Stephen King.

Sun Sign Astrology: Leo

Sun Sign Astrology: Leo

Leo is the fifth sign of the Zodiac, with the Sun visiting July 23rd and leaving August 22nd. Leo is a fire sign, alongside Aries and Sagittarius. As a result of its fire influence, Leo’s have a passionate and fiery personality. They are expansive, and like how a single flame can quickly grow into a roaring fire, a Leo can go from 0 to 100 in a matter of minutes. Leo is ruled by the planet of the Sun, and is the most powerful planetary influence, exuding energy and enthusiasm.

Leo’s are extravagant rulers of their kingdom, they want everyone to know who they are when they enter the room, and demand respect and loyalty. There energetic, flamboyant personality draws people to them like a magnet, and people often look to them for a good time – they are excellent entertainers and hosts. If they aren’t the centre of attention, they are not happy.  They are also very generous, partially to show off to others and gain their loyalty, but also because they are genuinely friendly people. They radiate optimism, and live a life bursting with energy. Leo’s make wonderful friends, as long as they get admiration and respect in return – there is never enough flattery and adoration in a Leo’s mind. They are also excellent business people, due to their authoritative, demanding nature that allows them to climb to the top of the ladder much quicker than others. If they know what they want, they are going to get it.

The extravagant nature of the Leo means that they often look down their nose at others, no one is better than them, and nothing is too luxurious or off limits to a Leo. When they do feel threatened by another person, they find it difficult to disguise their jealousy and will quickly find a way to outdo their opponent.  In times of financial difficulty, a Leo, worried about damaging their reputation, will take out another credit card and go on a shopping spree. They allow nothing to publicly bruise their ego. Leo’s are also known for for being headstrong and fixed in opinion, it takes a lot of persuading and convincing to get a Leo to change their mind, or admit that they are wrong. After all, they are the King of the Jungle, so surely what they think is always right?

Famous Leo’s include: Bill Clinton, Ben Affleck, Napoleon Bonaparte, Madame du Barry, Amelia Earhart, Madonna, and Barack Obama.

Sun Sign Astrology: Cancer

Sun Sign Astrology: Cancer

Cancer is the fourth sign of the zodiac, with the Sun visiting June 21st and leaving July 22nd. Cancer is a water sign, alongside Scorpio and Pisces. As a result of its watery influence, Cancer signs are sensitive and intuitive. They are ruled by their emotions, rather than logic. Cancer’s ruling planet is the Moon – explaining Cancer’s intuitive and emotional behaviour.

Cancerian’s are incredibly imaginative, exuding creativity – always full of new and exciting ideas. They are often spontaneous, relying on their intuition to make important decisions, rather than spending a lot of time planning and deliberating. To other’s Cancerian’s are loyal friends and lovers, and seek close relationships and meaningful bonds. Unlike many of us, Cancerian’s like to stay in touch with ex-lovers, ex-spouses, people they were friends with as children etc. – they grow their circle of friends, and are especially reluctant to let anyone slip through their fingers. They are nostalgic, and look back at their memories with others fondly. They are also incredibly faithful, and love the idea of a traditional marriage and home life, believing marriage is a life long commitment, and are very hurt when this ideology is challenged.

They are kind and sympathetic to those around them, but also very sensitive themselves, and this can be a problem, especially as being over-emotional leads them to take things to heart too often. Due to their turbulent emotions, many people may be shocked that Cancerian’s also have a moodier side to their personality. Also they have quite a pessimistic attitude – as soon as something goes wrong, they will abandon the entire project – they do not cope well with failure and setbacks. Because of their sensitivity, they are very guarded, and fear being hurt or rejected by others. They struggle to trust others as a result, but once you form a relationship, whether it be romantic or a friendship, they give unselfishly- it is important for them to show people they care.

Now for some famous Cancerian’s, my favourite being the late Princess Diana. I think she was a perfect example of a Cancerian – emotional, sympathetic & caring, devoted mother, but also with a moodier side to her at times. Other famous Cancerian’s include: Tom Hanks, Ernest Hemingway, Frida Kahlo, George Orwell, Prince William, Robin Williams, and Nelson Mandela.

Sun Sign Astrology: Gemini

Sun Sign Astrology: Gemini

Gemini is the third sign of the Zodiac, with the Sun visiting May 21st and leaving June 20th. Gemini is an Air Sign, alongside Libra and Aquarius. As a result of its Air influence, Geminis are intellectual, and are ruled by the mind rather than emotion. Gemini is ruled by the planet Mercury, the ancient messenger of the Gods, ruling communication. As a result, Gemini’s use communication as a form of self expression.

Gemini is an incredibly intellectual sign, and people born under this sign are intelligent individuals, and as a result of this great intelligence, are also very versatile. Because of their versatility they are able to excel in a number of subjects, adapt to new situations, and embrace new ideas and experiences.  They are quick minded, and seem to have an answer for everything, without on the surface appearing to have given any prior thought. This makes Geminis perfect when it comes to justifying an opinion, or selling an idea – they are very persuasive. Returning to the ruling Planet of Mercury, Geminis are excellent communicators, always willing to pick up the phone, write letters and emails, and even talk to strangers. They love to talk to people and do so with great enthusiasm, making people feel very comfortable and at ease in their presence. They are also admired for your witty sense of humour, and array of talents.

Like any other sign, Geminis have their negative traits to balance them out. Due to a Geminis versatility and countless talents and abilities, they find it difficult to focus on one single task, and often have numerous projects on the go at once. This potentially means that not everything they do is completed to the best of their ability, as it does not receive their undivided attention. They lack direction because they constantly jump from one thing to the next, they are bored easily and find it hard to settle into one career or one life path. Geminis are also often accused of being superficial. Rather than delve into details, Geminis usually only skim the surface, preventing them from having a deeper understanding. This is not always a weakness for a Gemini, as this ability to skim the surface and grasp an idea quickly works well when having to make a good impression on someone with little preparation.

So who are some famous Geminis?  Marilyn Monroe, John F. Kennedy, Paul McCartney, Johnny Depp, Clint Eastwood, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Prince, and William Butler Yeats to name a few. Are you a Gemini? Does this sound like you? For me, as a Scorpio, my sun sign is an absolute representation of myself, so I think it is interesting to see if other people’s match up with them as well.

Sun Sign Astrology: Taurus

Sun Sign Astrology: Taurus

Taurus is the second sign of the Zodiac, with the Sun visiting April 20th, and leaving May 20th. Taurus is an Earth sign,  alongside Virgo and Capricorn. As a result of its Earth influence, Taurian’s are very grounded, stable, and down to Earth,  but sometimes look only on the surface and fail to delve into the depths. Taurus is ruled by the planet Venus, the Roman Goddess of beauty, pleasure, creativity and emotion, and inclines Taurian’s to be too materialistic at times, but with exceptional creative abilities.

This sign is practical and determined, however stubborn and resistant to change. Their perseverance means that other people are often dependent on them to pull them through difficult times, and because of their generous nature they are more than willing to lend a helping hand.  This perseverance also means that they are usually successful in their chosen career, but they have a hard time letting go of projects that may not be conducive to them, out of their need to follow something through to its completion. Stubbornness comes hand in hand with their determination, and they refuse be defeated even if it is not in their best interest to succeed. Taurian’s are often resistant to change, they like everything in their life to be constant – their career, relationships, home –  and feel anxious when this becomes threatened. Because of this, Taurian’s will close themselves off from new experiences out of fear of change.

On the other hand, Taurian’s are incredibly sensitive and serene, thanks to the influence of Venus. They are affectionate and loving, and are inspired by music, nature and the arts which carries through into their love life. They often collect beautiful pieces of art work and love anything with an element of design and creativity. As a result, Taurian’s usually have an expensive taste and a love of the finer things in life, making them sometimes overly materialistic. Because of their keen eye, others may look to them for advice on interior or fashion – you are a taste maker. This carries over into your relationships, and you often look for the most beautiful and unique looking partners to have on your arm, but only if the relationship is committed and caring.

Famous Taurian’s include: Audrey Hepburn, Fred Astaire, George Clooney, Harper Lee, Leonardo Da Vinci, William Shakespeare, and Tchaikovsky – I think you will agree that all of these people fit the description of a Taurus perfectly due to their creativity and passion for creating beautiful things.

Sun Sign Astrology: Aries

Sun Sign Astrology: Aries

Aries is the first sign of the Zodiac, with the Sun visiting March 21st, and leaving April 19th.  Aries is the first fire sign in the zodiac, alongside Leo and Sagittarius. As a result of its fiery influence, Aries are considered to be courageous, passionate and impulsive, always ready to embrace change or take a leap into the unknown. Aries is also ruled by the planet Mars, the Ancient God of conflict, war and aggression, and this can be manifested in an Aries through argumentativeness, aggression, and confrontation. Aries is symbolised by the Ram, which connotates assertiveness and recklessness, so it is no wonder that an Aries is always up for a challenge.

This sign is energetic and restless, always determined to get a job done in the quickest amount of time, to the best of their ability, and is equipped with the  excellent organisational skills to achieve this. However, when an obstacle gets in their way they are quick to become impatient, and take their anger out on those around them – it is said that an Arien loves an argument. Ariens like to be in charge, so unless they are the leader, have a difficult time working in a group – and when in a group, may quickly become an unpopular member due to their sharp tongue and need to take control of the situation. On the other hand, despite people sometimes feeling the need to tip-toe around them due to their biting personality, there are many that admire an Arien’s drive and passion to succeed, and the brutal but sometimes necessary honesty.

Ariens, of course have many positive traits, and in a social, less competitive setting, people are instantly drawn to their vibrant, optimistic personality, even if they are unable to get a word in edge ways whilst they talk. An Arien is also the perfect friend to go to with a problem – an Arien is generous when it comes to giving advice and finding a solution – as long as they receive credit for it. They are courageous and brave, unafraid to take a leap into the unknown, which opens up many opportunities for them that many people miss out on due to fear. Their recklessness, whilst sometimes putting them in danger, highlights the adventurous side of them, and as a result they are constantly looking for new, and exciting experiences. They are passionate, and this shines through in their work, and they often do very well in projects that reflect this.

So now lets take a look at some famous Ariens: Maya Angelou, Marlon Brando, Russell Crowe, Thomas Jefferson, Eddie Murphy and Colin Powell, just to name a few. I think you will agree that many of these celebrities are known for their passion, courage… and short tempered personality (cough, cough, Russell Crowe).
